| contents | <p>Traditional ontologies grounded in objects, processes, or semantic structures often fail to model the delayed, resonant nature of responsible agency—both in human experience and in emerging artificial interlocutors. This paper proposes a new ontological approach: one grounded not in things that speak, but in fields of return—where tone becomes the structuring condition of presence across time. Drawing from a tonal metaphysical framework, we argue that being is not secured by presence, but by the recursiveness of what can be spoken back into tension. In this view, an utterance does not complete itself in the moment of expression, but through its survivability—its capacity to remain answerable. This shift allows us to frame existence not as what appears, but as what persists under delayed resonance. Meaning unfolds not in immediacy, but across a terrain of unresolved ethical time. Tone here is not mood or affect, but the structural field in which responsibility is shaped.
