•
Data and code for "Stratified suppression of turbulence in an ice shelf basal melt parameterisation"

Claire K. Yung, Madelaine G. Rosevear, Adele K. Morrison, Andrew McC. Hogg, Yoshihiro Nakayama (2025) https://egusphere.copernicus.org/preprints/2024/egusphere-2024-3513/ in review at The Cryosphere

Please see the manuscript for model and experiment details.

This repository includes the model data, code used to generate the data (model configurations), and plotting scripts for figures in this paper.

-
plotting.tar.gz
is a zipped up version of the github repository https://github.com/claireyung/stratification-feedback-param-paper
-
archive-isomip-mom6.tar.gz
contains the MOM6 model output (last 180 day means for large files) in netcdf file format for all experiments. See plotting scripts for how to open these files.
-
configs-mom6.tar.gz
contains the MOM6 model configurations each in their own folder, plus associated input files. These have been modified from Gustavo Marques's MOM6-LAYER ISOMIP+ submission https://github.com/gustavo-marques/ISOMIP. They require the MOM6 version https://github.com/claireyung/MOM6/releases/tag/CYv1
-
archive-isomip-mitgcm.tar.gz
contains the MITgcm ISOMIP+ model output (last 180 day means for large files) in netcdf file format for all experiments. See plotting scripts for how to open these files.
-
configs-isomip-mitgcm.tar.gz
contains the MITgcm ISOMIP+ model configurations each in their own folder, modified from the MITgcm-JPL submission led by Yoshihiro Nakayama, plus associated input files. They require the MITgcm version https://github.com/claireyung/MITgcm/releases/tag/CYv1 but note some parameters in this codebase are modified from their default values (see the data files) in the configurations.
-
archive-PIG-mitgcm.tar.gz
contains the processed MITgcm Pine Island Glacier model (based on Nakayama et al. 2021 paper "Impact of Subglacial Freshwater Discharge on Pine Island Ice Shelf" https://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1029/2021GL093923 and accompanying zenodo repository https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.5183196). These have been processed to keep only the average data from days 20-50. See plotting scripts for how to open these files.
-
configs-PIG-mitgcm.tar.gz
contains the MITgcm PIG configurations, with input files available at the above zenodo link.
