| contents | <p><em><span>The emergence of no-code platforms is revolutionizing digital development by making it possible for people with minimum or no technical skills to single-handedly build software, automate workflows, and develop digital applications. With ease-of-use visual interfaces, no-code platforms overcome the coding roadblocks of yesteryears by enabling people to build running applications through a process of dragging and dropping workflows and components based on logic. This technology democratization has brought with it a new age of participation in the world of innovation, and it gives power to entrepreneurs, educators, small business owners, and non-profit leaders to solve specific problems and challenges in their world, on their own terms. This article discusses the empowering potential of no-code solutions based on secondary analysis of literature, including summary of the development history of the solutions and emergence, analysis of adoption of the solutions by various industries, identifying some of the important use cases, advantages, and disadvantages, and future possibilities for no-code. The findings suggest that no-code platforms are not just a software development tool, but play an empowering function within a broader digital empowerment system that enables equity in innovation and shifts how individuals interact with and utilize technology.</span></em></p> |
