Eleven professionals participated in the study, including preceptors and residents of the professional categories of Nursing, Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy. The analysis resulted in two final categories: the characterization of the preceptorship and difficulties, potentialities and contribution of this activity to the resident professional. The study concluded that the participants yearn for the redefinition of the preceptor's practice by the institution's management bodies, with a focus on continuing education and improvement of skills and competencies aimed at in-service teaching activities.
