| contents | <p>This independent investigation analyzes the symbolic appropriation and cultural distortion of the "duende" figure in Baños de Agua Santa, Ecuador. It documents how <em>El Bosque Encantado</em>, a tourist venture led by Francisco Chávez, positioned itself as the originator of the duende phenomenon without acknowledging the true authors of the narrative: artists Fito Girolami and Catalina Lucz-Ligeti, creators of <em>La Casa del Duende</em> and <em>La Aldea Mágica</em> since 2013. Through a comparative analysis of both projects, this report exposes how institutional tourism and social media campaigns have contributed to the erasure of symbolic authorship and cultural memory.
