- <p>The article brings to the foreground the issue of constructivism, which has become a ”lay religion” in education as far as the origins of learning and knowledge are concerned. Being approached from different perspectives, this concept orbits around the idea of construction of knowledge through new meanings and active learning. Evidence is provided for the fact that an important factor in revealing the pedagogical essence of constructivism are its general principles: construction of knowledge, learning to learn, contextualization of learning etc. The role of the environment in shaping learning and the role of the learner as learner are revealed in an analytical definitional excursus. In addition to this, of real value is the documentation of some constructivist techniques.<br><br></p>
