  • Figure 1. Two principal study areas of the western Amazon rainforests in Madre de Dios were sampled for Eunectes murinus: near the confluence of the Los Amigos and Madre de Dios Rivers (EBLA) and the Las Piedras River (LPAC). Puerto Maldonado (PM) served as the principal base of operations for researchers. Maps were created using ArcGIS Pro 2.9 (Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI), Redlands, California). All positions and maps are projected using WGS 1984 web mercator. Basemap layers are facilitated by ESRI's feature layer services using Maxar, Earthstar Geographics, TomTom, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, United States Geological Survey and ESRI user community imagery. Department boundaries and country boundaries were sourced from the ESRI GIS community. Rivers were sourced from Open Street maps. Map produced by Patrick Champagne.
