contents
The Shark-Canary Index (SCI) is a proactive early-warning method for condensation films on high-voltage and optical surfaces. Unlike conventional humidity sensors, which react only after condensation forms, SCI detects films at their incipient stage using a witness plate, LED illumination, and camera imaging. By combining optical metrics with dew-point margin into a traffic-light alert, SCI provides 12–48 hours of lead time for purge or warm-dry actions, reducing HV trips and haze events while complementing existing climate-control systems.
