-
Maria da Conceição Tavares is one of the most important heterodox economists, recognized for her original analyses and contributions to the interpretation of Latin American, particularly Brazilian, economies. Essentially a development economist, her career is marked by thought-provoking reflections and theoretical reassessments of both the structuralist tradition and her own analyses. This article presents a synthesis of Tavares's interpretations regarding the transformations in the international order since the 1980s, a period during which she distinguished herself with pioneering work in the field of International Political Economy. The article is divided into four sections in addition to the introduction and conclusion, and engages with authors who have undertaken similar efforts.
