contents <p><b><i>Euwallacea fornicatus</i></b></p><p>The phylogenetic tree generated from our analyses (Figure 3) revealed that the majority of <i>Euwallacea</i> species clustered into four main clades, consistent with the findings of Gómez <i>et al.</i> (2018) and Smith <i>et al.</i> (2019). The 12 samples from Spain are nested together with all the PSHB clade, assigned to <i>E. fornicatus</i> by Smith <i>et al.</i> (2019). A single haplotype was identified in the Spanish samples, distinct from the H33 haplotype reported in Israel, the USA, and South Africa (Stouthamer <i>et al.</i> 2017). Phylogenetically, our samples may be more closely related to haplotypes found in Japan, China, and Vietnam.</p><p>A total of 241 specimens of <i>E. fornicatus</i> have been captured in the trap network in Motril, between early June and early November 2024 (Table 1, Figure 1). Additionally, infestations were detected in ornamental <i>A. negundo</i> (17 infested trees) and <i>P. aculeata</i> (1 infested tree). In October 2023, infestations were also detected in three orchards of <i>P. americana</i> (Lauraceae) and in <i>Ricinus communis</i> L. (Euphorbiaceae) (CAPADR 2024). Local authorities are implementing measures to eradicate the outbreak in accordance with national and European plant protection regulations.</p>
