contents <p><strong>English:</strong><br>This study assessed the prevalence of dermatophytosis in dogs from the Southern Macro-District of La Paz (2024) using first-intention diagnostic techniques and confirmatory culture. A total of 380 dogs were evaluated; overall prevalence was 12.4%, with <em>Microsporum canis</em> as the predominant agent. Findings support the application of accessible, evidence-based diagnostic methods in veterinary dermatology and emphasize the zoonotic relevance of dermatophytosis.</p> <p><strong>Español:</strong><br>Este estudio evaluó la prevalencia de dermatofitosis en caninos del Macrodistrito Sur de la ciudad de La Paz (2024), utilizando técnicas de diagnóstico de primera intención y cultivo confirmatorio. Se evaluaron un total de 380 perros; la prevalencia general fue del 12,4%, con <em>Microsporum canis</em> como agente predominante. Los hallazgos respaldan la aplicación de métodos diagnósticos accesibles y basados en evidencia en dermatología veterinaria, y resaltan la relevancia zoonótica de la dermatofitosis.</p>
