- <p><span>This article aims to examine the communicative dimension of rock images. To this end, it examines the historical and semiotic approaches that have attempted to shed light on their form and function, highlighting the limitations these discourses encounter. Finally, a cross-reading of the work of Flusser on the evolution of the image and of Peirce on its semiotic dynamics reveals the logic underlying its scientific silence.</span></p>
