contents
This study applies the Positive Statistics Methodology (PSM) to gastrointestinal disease data in Iraq, aiming to measure health empowerment and improvement indicators rather than relying solely on traditional disease metrics. Data were collected from 655 patients who underwent gastroscopy and colonoscopy at Mosul Medical Research Hospital during the first half of 2024. The study employed PSM tools such as the Health Empowerment Index (HEI), Relative Improvement Index (RII), and Composite Positive Achievement Index (CPAI). Findings revealed that 92% of patients were discharged in an improved state, with the 20–44 age group showing the highest positive response (RII=564%). Furthermore, 100% of patients adopted at least one positive recovery plan. These results highlight the importance of integrating awareness and prevention programs with medical treatment, recommending policy focus on groups with higher potential for health empowerment.
