•
In this article, the authors discuss how the concept of digital cooperatives is redefining ownership and wealth
distribution in the 21st -century economy. This is to investigate the types of new forms of collective ownership that
technology facilitates and how they may be used to mitigate inequalities caused by the conventional corporate and
platform models. The paper uses qualitative review and conceptual analysis of digital cooperative models, such as
platform cooperatives, blockchain-based ownership models, and decentralized autonomous organizations. It
emphasizes the way these models transform value creation by the centralized corporations to member-based networks
where profits, data, and decision-making have become more equally distributed. Some important conclusions are that
digital cooperatives are better placed to expand their economic contribution, generate trust by developing clear
governance frameworks, and develop sustainable growth by tying ownership to the concerns of their stakeholders.
They also show the strength against exploitative platform behavior because they put community good above
shareholder success. The conclusion reiterates the fact that despite the issues of scalability, regulation, and adoption
the digital cooperatives do offer a way forward to a more democratic and inclusive economy. Their redefinition of
ownership in the digital era provides some of the most innovative solutions to shared wealth generation, which can be
added to the international campaigns to promote equity and sustainability.
