contents
The growth of smart cities is contingent upon secure urban mobility. The safety-aware routing system we propose in this study improves Dijkstra's algorithm by dynamically adjusting edge weights based on the vicinity of important urban features, such as bars, CCTV cameras, police stations, lighting, and previously crime-prone locations. To take dynamic safety levels into account, the weight updates also take temporal factors like the time of day into consideration. In order to recommend routes that strike a balance between user safety and trip efficiency, we crawl and analyze urban data using a graph model of Bengaluru's road network. This method incorporates safety-critical characteristics into route planning, offering a workable technique to improve urban navigation, particularly for vulnerable users.
