•
This article examines the evolving landscape of dispute resolution in Nigeria, with a focus on the role of class actions and public interest litigation as emerging tools for justice. It explores how these mechanisms enhance access to justice, particularly for marginalized groups, by addressing collective grievances and enforcing accountability in both private and public law contexts. The author traces their development within Nigeria’s legal system, evaluates comparative perspectives from other jurisdictions, and highlights the challenges posed by procedural limitations, judicial attitudes, and institutional capacity. The paper argues that strengthening class action and public interest litigation frameworks could significantly improve Nigeria’s dispute resolution system and foster greater social justice.
