contents
Universal Declaration of Duties — Andy Kid Figueroa Cárdenas

The Universal Declaration of Duties is an ethical proposal developed by Andy Kid Figueroa Cárdenas. It is closely linked to his philosophical framework known as the Dasbien Theory, which defines love as “giving something good according to the other.”

This declaration seeks to establish a universal moral code of duties aimed at fostering well-being, harmonious coexistence, and shared responsibility among all beings.

Foundation

The Declaration is based on the three senses of love proposed by the Dasbien Theory:

Receiving love from other beings.

Giving love to oneself.

Giving love to other beings.

From this perspective, duties are not impositions but pathways to live sustainably and kindly. They are seen as an intellectual discovery of how to exist harmoniously with oneself and with others.

Core Principles

Duties are a rational and spiritual discovery for sustainable existence and coexistence.

The ultimate purpose of duties is goodness, well-being, and the common good.

Rights are reinterpreted as duties — what one expects to receive, one must also strive to give.

The only valid reason not to fulfill a duty is when doing so would produce a greater good.

A balance must exist between duties toward oneself and duties toward others.

The fulfillment of duties requires knowledge, ability, and moral education nurtured by family, society, and institutions.

Types of Duties

Duties toward oneself: caring for one’s well-being, cultivating serenity, strengthening the inner self, and seeking self-realization without harming others.

Duties toward other beings: seeking the well-being of others, recognizing and being grateful for the good received, and taking responsibility for the consequences of one’s actions.

Duties toward community and environment: protecting life in all its forms, promoting justice, and caring for the planet.

Educational and collective duties: inspiring others to fulfill their own duties and actively participating in the creation of the common good.

Institutional duties: governments, companies, and social organizations have the moral obligation to encourage the fulfillment of duties and to build structures that promote collective well-being.

Purpose and Vision

The Universal Declaration of Duties proposes a cultural transformation — from a society centered solely on rights to one balanced by the awareness of duty and love. Its ultimate aim is to cultivate beings who understand that personal good and the common good are inseparable.

It was presented as part of the 2019 book Lo Bueno (“The Good”), where the ethical foundations of the Dasbien Theory are integrated as a new basis for understanding love, ethics, and human coexistence.
