| contents |
Aluminium Metal Matrix Composites (MMCs) are an excellent choice for components that
need to be lightweight and have superior mechanical qualities because of their exceptional
performance in various engineering applications especially automotive and aerospace. An
attempt has been made in the current study work to create the aluminium metal matrix
composite via stir casting. A matrix consisting of Aluminium Alloy (AA) 7075 is reinforced
with increasing percentages of Multi Walled Carbon Nanotubes (MWCNT) (0wt%, 0.5wt%,
0.1wt%, 1.5wt%, and 2wt%). Investigations were conducted to examine the microstructure,
hardness, and additional mechanical attributes such as tensile strength & elongation. The
dispersion of MWCNT in AA7075 was examined using a scanning electron microscope (SEM)
on the samples. Samples examined under a microscope reveal that MWCNT is well dispersed
throughout AA7075. hardness increased by 169,174,183,187 percentages and Tensile strength
increased by 145,161,168,187 percentages whereas percentage elongation changed by
23,29,49,53 percentages for 0.5wt%, 0.1wt%, 1.5wt%, and 2wt% CNT, respectively among
the characteristics of AA7075.
|
