Imadaté leg.; one male (Imadaté’s Proturan Collection 5061a in NSMT), Mt. Fuji, Yamanashi Prefecture, Honshu, Japan, <i>Rhododendron brachycarpum</i> and <i>Vaccinium vitis-idaea</i>, elev. 2,300 m, 30-VIII-1982, K. Sawada leg.; one female, Sengen-jinja, Subashiri, Oyama-machi, Shizuoka Prefecture, Honshu, Japan, <i>Cryptomeria japonica,</i> 35°21'44"N, 138°51'46"E, elev. 800 m, 7-V-1986, O. Nakamura leg.</p><p><b>Diagnosis.</b> Cephalic additional setae <i>d6</i> absent; foretarsal sensillum <i>b</i> not reaching base of γ <i>4</i>; tergite VII with six pairs of anterior setae, <i>A4'</i> present; posterior accessory setae on tergites II–VII sensilliform, their length less than one-eighth of <i>P1</i>.</p><p><b>Supplementary notes on description.</b> The type specimens were not included in the registry list of NSMT specimens and could not be found. Hence, the measurements were based on the aforementioned specimens.</p><p>Head setae <i>l3, sd4, sd5</i> all setiform, <i>l3</i> length 11–13 μm, <i>d4</i> and <i>sd5</i> length 14–18 μm (Fig. 7A); additional setae <i>d6</i> absent (Fig. 7A); setae <i>d7</i> and <i>sd7</i> subequal in length, 20–23 μm long; pores <i>fp</i> and <i>cp</i> present (Fig. 7A). Maxillary palpus with two sensilla, lengths 12–13 μm; dorsal sensillum slender (Fig. 7B), ventral sensillum broadened in middle part (Fig. 7C). Pronotal seta <i>1</i> length 36 μm, about 1.5 times longer than seta <i>2,</i> 24 μm. Foretarsal setae <i>β1</i> and <i>δ4</i> long, setiform; <i>β1</i> length 27–28 μm, about 1.5 times longer than <i>δ1,</i> and about half length of <i>β2</i>,52 μm; <i>δ4</i> 39–40 μm long, about twice the length of <i>δ1</i>; <i>δ1–δ3</i> and <i>δ5</i> short, setiform, length 18–22 μm (Fig. 7D); pores present near sensilla <i>c</i> and <i>t3</i>. Mesonotum with pores <i>al</i> and <i>sl</i>; metanotum with <i>sl</i>; prosternum without pores; mesosternum and metasternum with a group of three adjacent <i>sc</i> (Fig. 8A). Tergite I with pore <i>spm;</i> II–VI with <i>spm</i> and <i>al</i> (Figs. 8B, H); VII with <i>spm, psl</i> and <i>al</i> (Fig. 8C). Sternite I–II with single <i>spm;</i> III–IV with a pair of <i>spsm</i> (Fig. 8E); V with two adjacent <i>spm</i> (Fig. 8F); VI–VII with a pair of <i>spsm</i> and a group of three adjacent <i>sam</i> on connecting line (Figs. 8H, I). Abdominal segment XII with dorsal central pore and a pair of ventral anterolateral pores. Central part of ventral hind margin of XII with fine teeth. Male squama genitalis with 7+7 setae (Fig. 7E).</p><p><b>Notes.</b> Sternite I lacks a pore in a male specimen from Kinkazan; sternite V has a single <i>spm</i> and a pair of <i>spsm</i> (Fig. 8G), and sternite VI features two groups of two adjacent <i>sam</i> in a male specimen from Mt. Fuji. Group of pores <i>sam</i> on sternite VIII are located on the first anterior line in a female specimen from Sengen-jinja (Figs. 8I, J), while the group is found at the intersection of the anterior lines in males from Mt. Fuji and Kinkazan (Fig. 8K). This same variation has also been observed in <i>Y. yamato</i>.</p><p><b>Distribution.</b> Japan (center of Honshu).</p> |
