- <p>This policy brief, “Embedding Environmental and Climate Ethics in Research: Six Recommendations for Institutions,” is the first Policy Brief of the RE4GREEN project. It builds on the findings of Work Package 1 (WP1), which analysed how research ethics and integrity (RE&RI) frameworks across the European Research Area address — or fail to address — environmental and climate concerns.</p> <p>The brief highlights the urgent need to embed environmental and climate ethics into research governance, strategies, and education. It identifies major gaps in current RE&RI frameworks, such as limited attention to justice-oriented approaches, the precautionary principle, and institutional accountability and provides six actionable recommendations for universities and research institutions to align their policies with Europe’s climate and sustainability goals.</p> <p>This policy brief was developed collaboratively by RE4GREEN partners, with input from participants of the project’s Social Labs (WP2) and the Stakeholder Advisory Board (SAB).</p>
