  • <p>This repository contains the annotations and software for 'When journalists share their happy feelings. Affective connection as a source of reliability in personal journalism'. </p> <p dir="auto">To detect authorial emotions in newspaper articles, a dictionary of emotion words have been constructed. For this purpose, all adjectives, nouns, verbs that were syntactically related to journalistic first-person pronouns have been annoted following appraisal theory. The annotations can be found in the files nouns, verbs I, verbs II and adjectives. 'dictionary_emo_words' contains the full dictionary. </p> <p dir="auto">The file posnegappraisal analysis analyses the frequency of emotions over time in the entire dataset and in the personal journalism sample as well as the frequency of positive versus negative emotions over time in the entire dataset. </p>
