-

Methodological principles of analysis of age factor of research potential of the country were developed, criteria for assessment of internal and external influences on its development were identified. Approbation of the proposed criteria was carried out by comparative analysis of age structure of researchers of different countries which are at different stages of socio-economic and scientific and technological development.
The introduction of four criteria for analysis of age structure of research potential was justified, indicators of which are determined by the share of age categories (years): up to 29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-54, 55-59, over 60.
1. criterion of increase and renewal of research potential = ratio of share of category up to 30 years and 55-59 (pre-retirement).
2. criterion of scientific and technical activity of research potential (total share of categories 30-39, 40-49, 50-54):
active = from 50% and more of the total number;
inactive (depressed) = less than 50% of the total number.
3. Criterion of future demand for research potential = share 50-54.
4. Criterion of prospectivity of research potential:
promising = share of category 30-39 > 50-59;
traditional = share of category 30-39 < 50-59.
