contents
This dataset contains hybrid strong-motion and MEMS-based seismic recordings from the mid-rise reinforced concrete (RC) office building of the Institute of Earth Sciences (IES) at Academia Sinica, Taipei, Taiwan. The structure is instrumented with a legacy network of 28 single-component Strong-Motion Accelerograph (SMA-1) sensors and a recently deployed array of three-component Quake Structural Integrity System (QSIS) MEMS accelerometers. Together, these systems provide nearly three decades of building-response data that capture both major and moderate seismic events, including the 1999 Chi-Chi (Mw 7.6), 1999 Chiayi (Mw 6.4), and 2024 Hualien (Mw 7.4) earthquakes.

The SMA-1 array, operating since the 1990s at 200 Hz, records strong shaking across the building’s Main and Library sections and in the nearby free field. The QSIS network, installed in 2022, continuously records at 100 Hz along the central axis of the Main section, enabling high-resolution monitoring. This hybrid configuration merges the temporal depth of legacy strong-motion instrumentation with the spatial and temporal continuity of modern MEMS sensors, offering a rare long-term dataset for studying the evolution of structural dynamic properties under repeated seismic loading.
