contents
The Wheeler-DeWitt equation in canonical quantum gravity imposes a timeless conditionon the wavefunction of the universe, precluding the emergence of local dynamics essential for semiclassical interpretations and cosmological observables. We propose an algebraic resolution employing the framework of Tomita–Takesaki modular theory, wherein the phase spaceis formulated as a von Neumann algebra M equipped with a faithful state ϕ. This relational algebraic structure—devoid of extraneous clocks or thermal interpretations—liberates the Wheeler-DeWitt framework, suggesting a pathway to full ADM quantization wherein constraints manifest as modular cocycles. The present work constitutes a prototype, underscoring that temporality arises not in spite of timelessness, but intrinsically therefrom.Extensions to anisotropic Bianchi models are sketched, paving the way for perturbation-inclusive analyses.
