This paper examines gendered perception, evidentiary asymmetry, and misuse of the coercive control defense distort culpability, producing both wrongful leniency for controlling offenders and disbelief toward genuine survivors. Drawing on comparative cases of female perpetrators including Stacy Castor, Shayna Hubers, Aileen Wuornos, alongside genuine victim cases such as Hannah Clarke and <em>Parris J v Christopher U</em>, the study demonstrates that coercive control is an intent-based psychological crime. It argues that misreading female culpability erases both true perpetration and true victimhood, undermining justice at every stage.</span></p> |
