  • <p>This research delves into the competency gaps among technology teachers in effectively implementing the Basic Technology curriculum within Nigerian junior secondary schools. As a foundational component of the educational landscape, the curriculum aims to equip students with essential technological knowledge, skills, and attitudes. However, existing research <br>suggests suboptimal student performance in Basic Technology, potentially attributable to teacher inadequacies. <br>The study seeks to identify specific competency areas requiring enhancement among technology teachers. By examining teacher competencies in planning instructional materials, managing the classroom and laboratory environment, and employing effective teaching methods and techniques, this research aims to contribute to the improvement of teaching practices. The findings will inform the development of targeted professional development programs designed to bridge the identified competency gaps. <br>Ultimately, this research strives to enhance the overall effectiveness of Basic Technology education in Nigeria. By empowering teachers with the necessary competencies, it is anticipated that students will achieve improved learning outcomes, thereby fostering a technologically proficient and skilled workforce for the nation.</p>
