| contents | <p><span lang="EN-US">The article demonstrates that the transformation of Uzbekistan’s artistic culture in the 1920s–1930s unfolded not as a natural evolution of art, but as a result of ideological pressure and control. The formation of professional schools and associations was accompanied by the loss of creative autonomy and the replacement of cultural diversity with the uniform aesthetics of socialist realism. A period that began with the search for new identities and stylistic experimentation ended in the institutional dependence of art on state power. Thus, Soviet cultural policy did not so much create as restructure the artistic landscape, turning art into an instrument of ideological alignment and social engineering.</span></p> |
