- This paper explores Arthur Schopenhauer's metaphysics of the Will as idealism's unseen ground, critically examining his unique contribution to post-Kantian philosophy. Schopenhauer radically reinterprets Kant's unknowable noumena, identifying the Will as the thing-in-itself which manifests as the world of phenomena or representation. This provides a direct, albeit non-rational, content to the noumenal realm, unifying all existence from inorganic forces to human volition under a monistic foundation. We analyze how this Will-centric ontology provides a profound, if pessimistic, resolution to idealism's challenges, grounding the world as representation in a blind, irrational, and ceaseless striving force. The paper further investigates the epistemological and ethical implications, including the nature of suffering, the drive for existence, and the possibility of aesthetic contemplation and ascetic negation of the Will. By positioning Schopenhauer's philosophy against the backdrop of German Idealism, we reveal his system as a distinct, anti-rationalist answer to the problem of ultimate reality.
