- This paper explores the complex and often overlooked literary intersections among Canada, the United States, and Mexico, collectively forming a North American literary space. Moving beyond traditional bilateral comparisons, this study proposes a trilateral approach to unveil shared narratives, thematic convergences, and divergent aesthetic strategies across the contiguous nations. It argues that a holistic understanding of North American literature necessitates acknowledging the dynamic interplay of cultural, historical, and geopolitical forces that transcend national borders. Through an examination of diverse literary forms and movements, including Indigenous literatures, border narratives, migrant experiences, and expressions of national and transnational identity, this research maps how these fictions engage with contiguity, challenging monolithic national canons and highlighting a rich tapestry of interwoven storytelling. The paper employs comparative literary analysis and spatial literary studies to identify recurring motifs, stylistic echoes, and critical dialogues that contribute to a uniquely North American literary consciousness. Ultimately, this work seeks to reposition North American literary studies by advocating for a more integrated, comprehensive, and interconnected perspective that reflects the intricate realities of the continent.
