With a non-experimental
correlational design, data were collected using surveys of
law enforcement actors and affected communities, as well
as secondary documents related to environmental case
decisions in several selected provinces (purposive
sampling). The main instruments were questionnaires and
secondary data analyzed using descriptive statistics and
multiple regression. The results show that the intensity of
law enforcement has a significant negative effect on the
prevalence of ecological crimes and a significant positive
effect on indicators of environmental victim protection (p
< 0.05). These findings support deterrence theory and
reinforce the relevance of the green criminology approach
in the context of environmental law enforcement in
Indonesia. In practical terms, the results suggest
strengthening the environmental criminal law enforcement
system, integrating the principles of ecological justice, and
restoring both human and environmental victims. This
study fills an empirical gap in the Indonesian green
criminology literature, but has limitations in terms of
design and sample coverage; further research with a
longitudinal design and institutional variables as well as
community participation is recommended.
Keywords: Environmental Law Enforcement; Green
Criminology; Ecological Crimes; Victim Protection;
Deterrence.
|
