| contents | <p>This paper analyzes Arab British migrant fiction, focusing on Ahdaf Soueif’s <em>The Map of Love</em> as a site where intercultural dialogue, cosmopolitan ethics, and transnational love complicate and move beyond East/West polarizations. It argues that Arab British writers such as Soueif (and Jamal Mahjoub in the broader frame) act as cultural translators whose “worldly” aesthetics and code-switching practices help imagine Glissant’s poetics of relation and Tout-monde by foregrounding cross-cultural encounters, pluralism, and shared humanity against the legacies of colonialism, re/Orientalism, and nationalist closure. Through concepts of geopolitics of aesthetics, cosmopolitanism, and intercultural dialogue, the chapter shows how Arab Anglophone migrant narratives stage hybrid characters, jigsaw-like worlds, and multilingual exchanges that unsettle Othering discourses and open new ethical possibilities for living together in an age of intensified migration and cultural anxiety.</p> |
