contents
This study successfully developed bilayer tablets combining azithromycin (IR layer) for rapid and levofloxacin (SR layer) for rapid for prolonged release. Slugging technique and super disintegrants helped azithromycin's faster dissolution. Different grades of HPMC helped prolonged the release of Levofloxacin for up to 12 hours. Optimized bilayer tablet demonstrated good physical properties, rapid solubilization of azithromycin, and sustained release of levofloxacin.
