•
This paper proposes the “triple-spacer sliding exchange pipe system” to improve the efficiency of deep-sea pipeline replacement and removal operations. By combining upper, middle, and lower triple spacers with square-cross-section pipes, the system allows the middle claws to retract during exchange, enabling horizontal sliding of new and old pipes without underwater misalignment or complex robotic operations. Additionally, the simultaneous three-pipe recovery mechanism greatly enhances removal efficiency. Movable lids suppress seawater intrusion, making this structural system a practical design that simultaneously improves safety, precision, and speed, specifically for underwater infrastructure such as deep-sea mining and seabed oil pipelines.
