| contents |
E governance refers to the strategic use of digital technologies by governments to improve the delivery of public services, enhance transparency, and strengthen citizen participation in decision making processes. In the digital age, traditional models of public administration are increasingly unable to meet the growing demands of efficiency, accountability, and inclusiveness. This article examines how e governance is reshaping the future of public service by transforming institutional structures, service delivery mechanisms, and state citizen relationships. Drawing on global experiences and developing country perspectives, with particular reference to Pakistan, the study explores key dimensions of e-governance such as digital service delivery, online transparency tools, electronic participation, and data driven policymaking. The article argues that e governance has the potential to reduce bureaucratic delays, curb corruption, and improve accessibility of public services, especially for marginalized populations. However, it also highlights critical challenges including the digital divide, cybersecurity risks, weak institutional capacity, and resistance to organizational change. The digital transformation of public services is not merely a technological shift but a governance reform that requires legal frameworks, political commitment, and human capacity development. By analyzing opportunities and constraints, the article contributes to a balanced understanding of e governance as both an enabler and a disruptor of public administration. The study concludes that sustainable and inclusive e-governance can play a decisive role in shaping responsive, transparent, and citizen centric public services in the digital era, provided that technological innovation is accompanied by administrative reforms and social inclusion strategies.

|
