- <p>We establish a correspondence between the vacuum character of<br>a unitary symmetry in a geometric quantum statistical mechanical<br>system and the cohomology class of the associated deficit functional on<br>adelic class spaces. The main result shows that the vacuum character<br>appears as the obstruction to lifting sections of the structure sheaf<br>to its ghost prolongation, and this obstruction classifies finite abelian<br>covers of the adelic space. We prove that the vanishing of this class<br>is equivalent to the Riemann hypothesis for the associated L-function<br>and derive monotonicity properties under Ricci flow.</p>
