- <p><span>Vegetables are vital for nutritional security, public health, and economic stability in India, serving as affordable sources of essential micronutrients while contributing to food security amid rapid population growth and urbanization. This paper examines the challenges of modern farming in the post-Green Revolution era, including soil degradation, biodiversity loss, and unsustainable practices, and emphasizes the need for sustainable agriculture. It highlights India's position as the second-largest producer of vegetables and the critical role of optimal vegetable growth in driving national economic progress. A proposed Unified Command Structure for the national distribution of vegetables and fruits, integrated with multipurpose, multilevel warehousing, aims to transform supply chain management by minimizing waste, stabilizing prices, ensuring year-round availability, and improving farmers' livelihoods. Modern warehousing standards, temperature-controlled storage, and efficient logistics are examined to enhance shelf life, mitigate inflationary pressures, and support inclusive growth by improving resource utilization and integrating technology.</span></p>
