contents
This work presents the Cognitive Edge Emergence Model (CEEM), a formal mathematical framework describing how long-term cognitive structure emerges from affective dynamics. Building on the Emotional Wave Sensitivity Model (EWSM), which formalizes emotion as a time-continuous vector process regulating cognitive bandwidth, CEEM specifies how bandwidth-modulated emotional trajectories give rise to conceptual activation, directed edge formation, and the adaptive reorganization of conceptual networks over time. The present work focuses on the formal definition, internal consistency, and theoretical integration of CEEM as a structural extension of EWSM. Empirical validation and applied extensions are the subject of ongoing and subsequent work, including continuous-time formulations, learning and breakdown dynamics, and broader applications to human development, clinical phenomena, and adaptive artificial systems. Together, this framework establishes a unified foundation for affectively grounded structural cognition, positioning emotion not as a qualitative annotation but as a primary dynamical driver of cognitive organization.
