contents

Dispositions of the Quantum Object (DQO) is Paper 1 of the First Science Project. A shorter preliminary form of the core idea was presented as “Disposition, Value, and the Quantum Object” (30′ online) at the Balkan Analytic Forum (BAF+): Dispositions and Values, 19 October 2024.

This Zenodo record publishes the first full-length version (v1.0) of the paper. Its sole direct object is the Generic Entity: an entity of undetermined attribute and undetermined cardinality. The governing methodological constraint is First-Classness (FC): no privileged starting point is permitted; no external axiom is permitted to stand as normative authority over the object; and no entity is permitted to be treated as second-class. Under FC, the development proceeds by dialectical (co-syllogistic) construction rather than by deduction from assumed axioms.

The central structural claim is that complementary opposition is not an interpretive overlay but the necessary form of articulation available to an FC-respecting foundation. In particular, the paper replaces the foundational role of the quantitative 0/1 binary (as a metaphysical starting point) with a qualitative binary grounded in ontological gender: toHave (F) and toBe (M). The F/M opposition is treated as a conserved structure that makes intelligible how an absolutely unqualified object can nevertheless exhibit stable articulation without collapsing into determined predicates.

On this basis, familiar quantum difficulties are treated as structural necessities of perspectival conservation. Superposition is understood as the persistence of irreducible toHave/toBe tension. “Collapse” is treated as viewpoint-selection within the permitted structure, not as an unexplained metaphysical jump from indeterminacy into determinate predicates. Noether-style reasoning is used heuristically to connect conservation with hidden symmetry at the level of being, while keeping quantitative physics intact as quantitative physics.

The paper situates its construction alongside Aristotle’s undetermined genus, Leibniz’s monadology and analysis situs, Stoic logic (including its direction of validation), and category-theoretic naturality, while maintaining the two rationalities as distinct: the axiomatic/process rationality of quantitative science and the FC/essence rationality required by the Generic Entity. Appendices extend the line of development: Appendix A on metaphysical indeterminacy under FC; Appendix B on forces through gendered dyads as a route into the companion dyadology; Appendix C on why abstraction is not the normative source of rigor in this project.
