- <p><strong><span lang="EN-GB">Abstract: </span></strong><span lang="EN-GB">This study aims to analyse the contribution of human capital to the horizontal diversification of exports from resource-rich SSA countries, given the persistence of export concentration and the recurrence of the natural resource curse in this zone. Following the generalised method of moments used on a sample of 22 resource-rich sub-Saharan African countries covering the period 2000-2018, this study finds that human capital has positive and significant effects on the horizontal diversification of exports from resource-rich SSA countries, </span><span lang="EN-GB">thus confirming the hypothesis formulated. </span><span lang="EN-GB">Based on these results, we recommend that governments in resource-rich SSA develop their institutional and infrastructural frameworks to ensure a diversified and robust manufacturing production system.</span></p> <p><strong><span lang="EN-GB">Keywords: </span></strong><span lang="EN-GB">Human capital, Horizontal export diversification, SSA</span></p> <p><strong><span lang="FR-CM">JEL Classification Number: </span></strong><span lang="FR-CM">J24, F14, O11</span></p>
