- <p>For 82 years, the functions from Ramanujan’s last year of work—his “Lost Notebook”— remained incomplete. No one could solve them.</p> <p>Then in 2002, Dutch mathematician Sander Zwegers figured it out. Ramanujan’s functions were incomplete because they needed “shadow” corrections—extra adjustments required when boundaries are crossed.</p> <p>Zwegers had no idea these functions would be used in physics—in 2012, they were connected to black holes by Dabholkar, Murthy, and Zagier.</p> <p>In 2025, AQMT revealed what those shadows describe: the mathematical correction that occurs when wave function collapse happens. Just as a shadow flattens a 3D ball onto a 2D wall, these mathematical “shadows” turn many quantum possibilities into a single, definite reality.</p>
