Using a qualitative content analysis approach, the research explores both the positive and negative dimensions of virtual scenography and its influence on audience engagement. Through documentary analysis and in-depth interviews with prominent theatre directors, key conceptual factors were extracted using ATLAS.ti software. The findings identify ten effective elements—including placelessness, environmental fluidity, visual quality, spatial scale, lighting, sound, and temporality—that enhance audience interaction with virtual theatre environments. The study also discusses the applicability of virtual scenography methods within contemporary Iranian theatre.
