| contents |
Abstract: The fishing industry often suffers from
lack of information and safety protocols, which put
fishermen in a difficult spot risking them over
weather fluctuations and even unintentional
crossing of maritime borders. The study presents
Fisherman’s guardian, a mobile application built on
React Native to improve safety and compliance at
sea. The whole system revolves around a weather
watchdog and GPS-based geofencing that assists in
giving instant alerts. Fishermen log in using a
secure authentication method supported by a
MySQL database that is responsible for personal
use and data management, so to speak. Weather
updates are obtained from third-party APIs to
provide precise predictions whereas geofencing
algorithm keeps on monitoring boats’ locations
against the defined maritime limits. When a limit is
approached or crossed, the app sends immediate
alerts using visual means and notifications. The
proposed solution combines safe user management,
weather intelligence, and boundary alert
mechanisms into a single mobile platform thus
reducing the safety risks, minimizing the legal
violations, and providing the fishermen with an
accessible, and user-friendly tool. The experimental
validation proves the alert system’s effectiveness
and weather updates’ reliability while showcasing
the app’s capacity of becoming a significant
contributor to the marine safety and regulatory
compliance of the coastal communities.
|
