| contents |
This article intends to analyze the role of the German woman within nazi ideology,
through the pages of the nazi magazine NS-FrauenWarte, highlighting the centrality of the
question of motherhood in nazism’s perspective of womanhood. To that goal, this article will
focus on the nature of the position of the woman idealized by nazis in their society, through
the observation and analysis of its representation on the pages of the women’s magazine and
also exploring the way in which said idealization is manipulated and altered to fit the needs of
the Reich, making use of a certain flexibility in nazism’s official discourse as the needs of the
Third Reich changed, without ever disconnecting it from the concept of maternity. To that end,
this article will anchor itself theorically on Antoine Prost’s definition of a history concerned
with the intersections between social and cultural history, dealing with the representations of
women in nazi propaganda and their social role.
|
