Today, in developed societies, individuals, through social instinct and personal rationality, are \textbf{actively breaking this cycle} with a new form of "adjustment": refusing to have children. This is not decline, but an adaptive response to the burdensome legacy left by the very era of prosperity their forebears created.</p>
