| contents | <p>This Guidance Brief synthesises the outcomes of the international network conference <em>“Living Heritage: Knowledge, Identity, Practice”</em> (2025), organised within the framework of the KreativEU – Knowledge & Creativity European University Alliance and under the auspices of the UNESCO UNITWIN Network for Heritage Preservation, Science, and Communication for Sustainable Communities. It translates these outcomes into policy-relevant and practice-oriented recommendations for the safeguarding and sustainable development of living cultural heritage. The brief frames Heritage Living Labs as governance-oriented, participatory environments that enable coordinated action among communities, academic institutions, cultural organisations, and public authorities. It addresses key cross-cutting priorities for contemporary heritage policy, including ethics and rights-based participation, free, prior and informed consent, responsible openness, digital sustainability, intergenerational transmission, and long-term stewardship. Its recommendations are explicitly aligned with UNESCO’s 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage, its Ethical Principles, and relevant professional heritage standards. The document is intended as a strategic reference for policymakers, heritage institutions, universities, and practitioners seeking to operationalise living-heritage approaches through living-lab methodologies that support inclusive governance, resilience, and sustainable futures.</p> <p>The publication is co-funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ Programme (Project No. 101177256).</p> |
