- <p>This report investigates the “Mediation Mechanism” in technology-intensive sectors,<br>where the link between human capital and Operating Profit (EBIT) is mediated<br>by Research and Development (R&D). We argue that the modern tech firm operates<br>on a dual-logic: a Short-Cycle characterized by labor cost absorption and a Long-<br>Cycle characterized by an explosion in innovation-driven value. Using Maximum<br>Likelihood Estimation (MLE) and Clustered Bootstrap protocols, we quantify the<br>“Intelligence Rent” that maintains a stable premium over industrial baselines.</p>
