contents
[Abstract (ENG)]

This work argues that limitation is not a contingent deficiency of human cognition, but a structural condition of possibility for consciousness understood as a coherent model of experience, personal identity, and action. Against approaches that treat cognitive finitude as an obstacle to be overcome, the thesis maintains that the removal of limits does not expand consciousness but instead leads to the collapse of the very model that sustains it.

The analysis is developed through the problem of intersubjective asymmetry and the impossibility of full access to another’s experience. Rather than interpreting this asymmetry as an epistemic failure, it is defended as a constitutive feature of subjectivity itself. On this basis, limitation is conceptualized as an organizing principle of perspective, personal identity, decision-making, and moral responsibility.

In its final section, the argument is extended to the domain of complex artificial systems in order to clarify the ontological difference between human consciousness and artificial intelligence. While in human subjects limitation is constitutive, in artificial systems it remains instrumental. The absence of intrinsic constraints does not generate superior intelligence, but results in a loss of semantic and pragmatic coherence within the model.
