| contents |
This study examines integrated conservation and management programs addressing environmental degradation and socio-economic vulnerabilities in Hardoi district, Uttar Pradesh. The research analyzes multiple interventions including soil and seed treatment, agroforestry systems, biofertilizers, indigenous seed conservation, MGNREGA implementation, water conservation strategies, disaster management and local value chain development. Findings reveal that bio-primed seeds improve germination rates by 15-25% while reducing input costs by 70-80%. Agroforestry systems demonstrate 30-50% increases in farm income alongside 40-60% reductions in soil erosion. MGNREGA generated 199.52 lakh person-days of employment during 2020-2024, with 50% women participation. Water conservation techniques show potential for groundwater level improvements of 2-4 meters and irrigated area expansion of 35-50%. The study emphasizes that program success depends on synergistic integration rather than isolated interventions, genuine community participation and moving beyond sectoral silos toward holistic approaches. The framework presents a paradigm shift from top-down development toward participatory, community-driven models that recognize local knowledge, empower marginalized groups and build long-term resilience for sustainable rural transformation in agrarian economies facing climate variability and resource constraints.
|
