(2025).</p><p><b>Notes</b></p><p><i>Nausithoe punctata</i> was the most frequently recorded coronate medusa in the Mexican Caribbean (Table 2, Fig. 2 b). This is a shallow-water species and has a broad distribution, being present in the Mediterranean Sea, Red Sea, North Atlantic and multiple localities in the Caribbean — Puerto Rico, Saint Croix, Venezuela, Cuba and Belize (Márquez et al. 2006, Molinari et al. 2023, Morejón-Arrojo and Rodríguez-Viera 2025). <i>Nausithoe punctata</i> can be distinguished from the closely-related <i>N. maculata</i> by the absence of pigmentation in the lappets and its larger body size (Molinari et al. 2023).</p> |
