contents <p>This paper proposes an evolutionary model of Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), reframing it not as a deficit but as an adaptive mechanism balancing energy conservation and hyperfocus. The hypothesis suggests that individuals with ADD toggle between states of distractibility (energy-saving mode) and hyperfocus (energy-intensive mode) based on heart-rate-regulated cerebral energy delivery. This dual-state system is theorized to have offered survival advantages in ancestral environments. The brain energy statistic is supported by a verified citation; other conceptual links arise from the author’s personal reflection and synthesis of informal observations.
